Greek |
Iris took its name from the Godess of the rainbow with the same name. Godess Iris was also the ancient Greek Gods' messenger, Zeus' and Hera's specificaly, delivering messeges from "sky's eye" down to the Earth through the rainbow's curve. "Iris" means the sky's eye" and this is the name of the Godess and the flower. This is how we also call the human pupil...We are all carrying a part of this sky.
