Assos - General information
Assos is a small, traditional village on the north-east coast of Kefalonia. Seen from above, it resembles a plane leaf floating on the sea, while the indented coastline gives the impression that Assos sits on the sea, protected by high mountains. The small islet in front of it creates a natural harbour, and at the same time two beaches (in Greek this effect is called "amphialo "), which interestingly enough was Homer’s name for Ithaca (Amphialo).
Assos boasts all the colours of nature, with every shade of blue and green in all their grandeur.
It is the ideal place for a peaceful holiday.
There is bougainvillea and jasmine everywhere you look. Swim in its clean water, or wander around the village, with its stone streets, the old ruined houses, memories of another era. Climb up to its castle and admire the immensity of the sea. Assos has so much, and words cannot do it justice.
